Q: My group would like to tour the Traffic Operations Center (TOC), what is required to make arrangements?
A: Please contact the Administrative offices of NITTEC at webmaster@nittec.org with your group and contact information.
Q: When is the construction information updated?
A: This information is updated on Friday of each week.
Camera Information
Q: What are the cameras along the highway used for?
A: The cameras help our Traffic Operations Center (TOC) verify traffic conditions and manage the Regions roadway network.
Q: How often are the camera images updated?
A: The camera images update approximately every 60 seconds.
Q: Why are certain cameras indicating Image Not Available?
A: Camera images are not available if a camera is not functioning properly.
Q: How can I tell which direction a camera is facing?
A: Click the camera icon on the map view, a window will open with the camera image. Select the link "Which way is the camera pointing" to view the image you would see when the camera is pointing a specific direction.
Q: Will more cameras be installed and if so where?
A: Current plans include the installation of additional cameras along the I-90, I-290, and I-190.
Q: Are you collecting my personal information?
A: No information is collected.
Q: Are the camera images recorded?
A: No.
Message Sign Information
Q: Who determines what message is put on the Dynamic Message Sign?
A: The Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Operators develop the sign message from a list of predefined messages.
Q: The Dynamic Message Sign is blank, is the sign working?
A: Yes, a blank sign means that there is no traffic information to report at this time.
Q: When I drove under a Dynamic Message Sign, the message said "Right lane closed at Harlem". When I got there, it was not closed, why was the message displayed?
A: Depending on the distance, a Dynamic Message Sign may contain information that was present at the time, but may have cleared by the time motorists arrive at that location.
Speed Link Information
Q: What do the color coded overlay speed links represent?
A: The average travel speed on the roadway based on current conditions displayed as per the color coded legend.
Q: How often are the average speeds updated on the map?
A: The speed links update approximately every 60 seconds.
Q: What does No Data mean?
A: The device that measures the speed is not functioning.
Q: What does No Instrumentation mean?
A: The section of roadway in question does not have equipment to measure speeds deployed for use.
